Small Explosions

Small Explosions That Are Yours to Keep

In striking black and white, a woman breaks free of the physical and psychological ties of a stifling relationship. In his directorial debut, Victor Quijada, under the mentorship of director Micah Meisner, adapted an excerpt from the full-length work, Slicing Static. Original music by Mitchell Akiyama mirrors the bell motif in this tango-inspired duet. With stunning simplicity, the piece subtly shifts into trompe-l’œil camera effects to heighten the dramatic development.

Small Explosions That Are Yours to Keep was created in 2007.
