Hasta La Próxima

Beating with the fresh pulse of street attitude, Hasta La Próxima was Victor Quijada’s continued exploration into the subtleties of human relationships. A quartet of dancers uses both physical and psychological manipulation to recount a farewell tale that flips quickly from humorous to somber tones.

Hasta La Próxima was the choreographer’s second mid-length creation for his recently-formed company, RUBBERBANDANCE Group. Named among the “Top 5 in Dance for 2002” by the critics at Montreal’s Le Devoir newspaper, this work toured extensively as part of the company’s Elastic Perspective repertory program. The adaptation of the central duet in the short film of the same title was nominated at the 2004 American Choreography Awards.

Hasta La Próxima premiered in October 2002 in the Urban Dance series at Espace Tangente in Montreal.
