Gravity of Center – The movie

Gravity of Center is a short-film adaptation of Victor Quijada‘s full-length work for RUBBERBANDance Group.

The camera follows five characters who have encountered each other in the wake of unspecified natural and economic disasters. Across remote landscapes, they remain dependent on each other for safety and survival, their need for individualism sublimated by reliance on the group. Through a visceral physicality, five world-class dancers embody animal instinct and dignity in this striking film.

Gravity of Center was nominated for Best Experimental Short at the 2012 Yorkton Film Festival and won Best Experimental Short and the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography in a Canadian Short at the 2012 CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival. It has been presented at a number of other film festivals in North America.

Gravity of Center premiered at 2012 Yorkton Film Festival in Saskatchewan in May, 2012.
