Audience development activities

Outlined below are a few of several activities RUBBERBANDance Group offers to accompany performances. For more details, please contact the company.

Post-show Q&A

RUBBERBANDance Group’s choreographer, dancers, and artistic collaborators are available to engage with dance fans during after-show discussions, in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. Around a drink or a microphone, the inspiration for the work, the choreography and dancing, and the set design are de-mystified. In this activity, the audience is treated to a tour into the heart of RBDG’s world, guided by the artists themselves.

This activity consists of a lecture presentation illustrated by live excerpts from the company’s works. How is the special language of RUBBERBANDance Group conveyed? The opportunity to see live dance segments and talk with company members illuminates all the stages of the singular path that has culminated in RBDG’s spontaneous, very contemporary style. Addressed to both neophytes and more knowledgeable audiences, these lecture-demos are ideal for both primary and secondary schools, including those with specialized dance programs.

Short films

RUBBERBANDance Group also offers its short films, as a retrospective or a stand-alone activity, to allow audiences to become better acquainted with Victor Quijada’s work. The company has produced a number of high-quality shorts that capture its unique approach, along with music clips and videos of special projects. With viewers’ feedback and participation, the evening of screenings can be tailored to specific interests, with or without the presence of the choreographer as a mediator.
